Tech2000,

You can run Netscape or IE stand alone as long as AOL is running.
Just dial in to AOL, then start up your browser application instead of running the browser that comes with AOL.

I actually like AOL because it allows me to communicate with my friends and family with the 'buddy chat'. But the only reason I don't have an ISDN line right now is that TCI, my cable supplier, is offering cable internet via @Home in my neighborhood later this month.
So I also am limping along with AOL as my ISP.
