Christine-- An affair with someone you like. Starts off as mere fun, may continue in the same vein forever. For decades, on and off. This is NOT the "our glances locked across the crowded room and we knew that come what may we'd never be parted" stuff. I'm talking grownups who know that they wouldn't really want to make a life together, but are genuinely good friends, and like to Get It Off. Or On. I become confused. What exactly was Kevin's phrase? I think that in some cases these sorts of relationships can lead on to real love, marriage, the whole nine yards, but even if they don't, they're based in affection and friendship, and tend to be extremely stable.
