I believe the monopoly situation is a lot different between Std. Oil and Intel.

1. The attitude is different today about bigness and breaking up large companies. That's partly because in global competition our companies have to go up against cartels in other countries. That is unless Clinton want to start acting like Teddy Roosevelt. :)

2. Std Oil abused their monopoly status by driving competitors out of business using bullying tactics. Intel is smart enough not to do that.

3. Finally, consumers are paying less for computers with Intel chips today than 1,2,3 years ago. It's hard for the gov't to go after a company when the consumer is not being hurt.
