If Noorda's rep on the board wanted to sell and the institutions liked the buyer and the price, Novell would probably be sold even if the management preferred not to sell. I doubt if IBM would make an unwelcome offer, that does not seem like Gerstner's style. The buyout that has the greatest synergy benefits would probably get approved. It will be our pleasure to watch this year, since most of us are so enthused about the company either way.
