Now, INTERESTINGLY. In Foxes' Book of Marytrs (spelling) I was astounded to read of Bishop Hooker. While enduring hideous things, he saiad the most beautiful male person he could imagine would appear beside whatever
torture devise they were using on him and always begin to bathe his forehead with a damp cloth.

All he spoke of was during this time the incredible joy he felt.

Bishop Hooker clearly described this being as an angelic being, and not the Lord Himself. But probably Gabriel at least.

I hate to speak without looking it up first, but I believe that poor Hooker was eventually actually roasted to death. They liked to burn them very slow in those days if they continued to profess a love for Jesus Christ outside of the "Holy Roman Church."

But I have thought about his most astoundingly lovely comforter many times, wondering about who it actually was.
That is almost too heavy to discuss. But apparently continues throughout time. And it is certainly my dearest hope that happened also on the Cross for much of it. I can always hope anyway.
