Uncle Frank, I will take the resident bear or the may be
the resident realist. I don't like S&P500 at 28 times forward
PE. Its 100 year average is 14. Wall strret hardly focuses on
the BIG picture of events. That has lead to people calling for
attrocious valuations.

SUN at 55 PE, IBM at 40 PE is unheard off and so is 70 PE for
microsoft. I am long term solid bull for MSFT. But it will
correct before it goes up. How much is hard to predict.
But after April 98 earnigs it dipped 15%
after July98 earnings it dipped ~30%.
oct98 was unusual as the stock as trading at 50 PE after a
strong announcement. That was a great buying opportunity.
Now, Jan99, it is at 70+ PE and I do expect a correction
and a good reentry opportunity for me.
