Usually I'm the one who asks about a spouse and the person bursts into tears because they just separated... Indeed. I shall never ever ever forget the time on that Seabourne cruise at our first (and only) Captain's Table dinner, when after polishing off half a jereboam of that most excellent pinot grigio you loudly proclaimed to the Skipper that you'd heard that drowning was just the most awful way to die. And insisted on his repeated, eye-rolling reassurances that, yes, Ms. Westbrook, the crew was in fact keeping a very close lookout for wayward icebergs (our location at the time being somewhere off the coast of Cyprus in the eastern Mediterranean).
