Rodman & Renshaw Inc. initiated coverage of Spine-Tech Inc. (SPYN) with a neutral rating.

They said the stock's current valuation may be unwarranted given that the firm sees slower-than-anticipated growth starting in mid- to late 1997.

The firm estimated Spine-Tech will lose 28 cents a share in 1996, earn 8 cents in 1997 and earn 42 cents in 1998.

Thats probably the reason for todays weakness. IMO, I don't see a whole lot of upside at this point. My guess is that earnings will probably disappoint especially since expectations may be higher given its the first qtr with FDA approval?

Not really crazy about options, but IYO what would be the best puts to buy going at least thru that week in Feb.

I don't think 15 by then is out of the question given current sentiment.
