Thanks Burt, but while we agree on this: << Edig is free to pursue other compression algorithms>>, I question this <<but I can see little reason to do such>>.

I work for a company that makes all kinds of product, so I will concentrate on one for this discussion. My sells a product that goes on the best selling truck in the world. Did my company stop and pat itself on the back and say well done... because we have our product in the best selling truck we are satisfied. No. Of course not. The shareholders would not stand for that. So, my company goes to the leading truck dealer and explains how his competition has this product on its truck. My company will explain to this truck maker that it needs this product to stay competitive. That truck dealer will agree and the shareholders value is increased. But my company does not stop there it goes to every truck manufacture until there is no more. Why, because that is what its shareholders expect of it!

Maybe Lucent will come out on top, but what about the potential sales to the companies in second, third, and fourth place?

I want those sales and I am not ashamed to admit it. I am not ashamed to admit that I will be disappointed if EDIG does not pursuing business opportunities with those companies also.

I expect EDIG to be aggressive!
