In February 1962, a number of Indian astrologers predicted that an 'asteroid'(???) would strike somewhere off Sri Lanka in the Indian Ocean, and many Indian believers left their senior positions in foreign lands to return home to be with their families in India. The much feared event didn't happen and many were left awondering why.
Of course, as has happened ever since the first century, a good number of folks believed that divine intercession saved them.

I recall that, at that time, I was touring Thailand and was having a whale of a good time!
