Inadvertently hurting others - I reserve stronger emotions for that. Embarrassment is a surface thing, a thing of miscast forms. Situation comedy. The other species of shame which glide silently at the top of that food chain - they are the real deal. When I discover that I have inadvertently hurt someone - it stays with me for life. Long after the other party has forgotten it.
