Also a good write-up by Mark Nichols in the "Health" section of the January 25th issue of Maclean's magazine. Covers description and development of the HeartSaver VAD, upcoming trials, and market potentials. Of note: "more that 45,000 Canadians die of heart failure each year", "Canadians are apparently notorious for their reluctance to donate organs". I presume that owing to this "only 166 heart transplants performed in this country in 1997". Gives some perspective to the market potential for this product in Canada alone. Also details several major advantages that HeartSaver has over competitor products.
