Jetfax Announces Hotsend Partner Program At David
Coursey's Showcase '99; Increased Web Traffic Is Pure
Gold For Visionary Partners

Business Wire - January 19, 1999 08:25

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 19, 1999--JetFax, Inc. (Nasdaq:JTFX), a leading
developer of document communication technology, today announced partnerships with several
Internet companies to use its HotSend(TM) email technology as a promotional tool to drive traffic to
their web sites. The new partners include TechWave, Inc., BroadCast Software Corp.,
maximumpc.com, BuyOnet, Digital River, and Release Corp. The announcement was made at David
Coursey's Showcase '99, the industry's annual launching pad for the hottest and most important
products, technologies, and services for the Internet, personal computing, and communications.

HotSend lets users send self-viewing email attachments from any application with just a single mouse
click, making it easy to send full-color documents such as web pages and presentations using
standard email programs. As part of the HotSend Partner Program, JetFax customizes the HotSend
Microviewer(TM) - the compact viewer transparently embedded in every attachment - to include the
partner's banner advertisement and web links. Recipients of HotSend documents then have one-click
access to the partner's web site. In addition to this advertising button, the partner's web site URL
appears as text at the bottom of every email message, giving their site double exposure.

"HotSend is the most powerful new way to drive web traffic," said Michael Crandell, JetFax VP of
Software. "Because it offers a super-simple way to email great looking documents and it's free, users
of email promote your web site for you. And in the classic chain-letter fashion, each person who
receives a HotSend document can download HotSend for free as well, magnifying the effect. It's a
win-win-win for everyone!"

"Being a HotSend partner, TechWave has been able to provide additional useful services to our
shoppers, while extending our brand and increasing traffic to our sites," said TechWave's Director of
Marketing, Karen Olson. "Our shoppers benefit from HotSend's features, like being able to easily
read email attachments, and we benefit from the branding and traffic we receive from HotSend's
private-labeling of the product. All in all, TechWave has found that being a HotSend partner is a
win-win for both our online stores and our shoppers."

JetFax currently offers a beta version of HotSend as a free download at www.hotsend.com and will
offer the final product in late January at the same Internet address. JetFax will also offer HotSend
companion products in the future.
