Do you have any experience with Compaq's WebL, NW? If yes, is it a Netscape, Internet Explorer browser like thing or more in the lines of an Alta Vista or Yahoo!? Given I have not gotten my new PC yet (and therefore have a small hard drive with not space to spare) I am not going to download it from digital.com to check it out.
From the Digital home page, it reads:
Download Compaq's WebL search engines... to automate web tasks... Let WebL do your... Web surfing...
I normally check both the Digital and Tandem sites about once a month to see if there is anything new. The last time I checked the Digital site, the first half of December, I do not recall seeing the WebL download area. Looking around the Digital site this morning, I can not find a description of what it is/does. If it is there, I just can not find it.
BTW, the reason I took another look at the domains registered by Compaq at Company Sleuth last night was to see if any domain names gave a clue about what Compaq was up to regarding the internet. One thing I was looking for, as a long shot, was to see if any domain name looked like it might ultimately be used as an IP, the idea of Compaq offering a commercial service to compete against the likes of AOL. I know CPQ has arrangements with GTE right now, but thinking down the line... either buy an existing or start a new IP?
