James, that is a mistake to assume that ASND sold because they can not grow. They will have even better growth with LU, but because of sheer size of LU, ASND would improve LU's growth only by few points. But in a long term ASND would contribute a major portion of LU revenues. Classic case CSCC got benefitted by getting a bigger ASND. Look now they are contributing half of their revenues. Similar story will unfold post LU merger. ASCEND will propel the growth of the new BROADBAND DIVISION OF LU. By 2005 this division will be leading LU in revnues. BR.
