BBG OT If you think that Byrd's motion is just politics you know very little of the man. He is the embodiment of Senatorial history and tradition. It was he who warned off the White House from using Democratic House members to present Clinton's case in the senate. It was he who brought the winning case against the line-item veto (the bill was signed and ardently supported by Clinton) to the Supreme Court. When this man talks the Senate listens. Even if they reject his motion (which I believe is likely), I believe that it signals the fact that the Senate has little stomach for pursuing this tawdry affair. CTC
