John, DELL is selling so many computers they can't keep up. The "on-line" trading frenzy has taken them by surprise. I ordered a Dimension V400 right after Thanksgiving and it took 10 days to get here. I understand that - that was the Christmas rush, but they claim they will deliver in three business days. It took 10 and this was a standard package. No alterations. I'm sure they had it in stock, but just could not ship it with all the volume they are going through. Now consider that GTW had a slow October and still smashed the eps by .04 cents. Also think about all the "internet" craze talk and excitement over x-mas. That tells me that a huge number of people will be spending their x-mas money on computers in Jan. DELL stock at $85 will look damn cheap in four weeks.
Also, last July when DELL tripled the number of shares out-standing they only declared a two for one stock split. I believe they will announce the other 1/3 as a three for two split in Feb. DWW II
