I have read the prospectus and although I'm not a financial wiz, I was alarmed when I calculated a current PE ratio of 100. This is based on earnings per share as of 9/30/98 of $0.20, 36.7 million shares outstanding after the IPO and a pricing of $20.00. Of course, I guess many companies aren't making a profit when they go public so maybe this isn't excessive. I did check Clear Channel (CCU) which I think is a leader in the industry and they have a PE ratio of 206%. Entercom does seem to have good market share in those major markets it is in. A "no-dot com" won't soar on its IPO like the internets but it looks good enough for a few point first day gain.
