Well, I knew there would be competition in this space but I hadn't anticipated that it would come from Lucent. Can't say I'm terribly happy about it. At first glance it seems to me that their solution overlaps with the low-end capabilities of TeraCOM but not the high-end. In other words, for regular videoconferencing it might be sufficient, but doesn't sound like it's up to telemedicine. I was discussing this with a friend of mine who is a glaucoma specialist and he said the resolution would have to be extremely high to support things like sharing MRI's over a link. After all, you're making decisions about people'e life and limb. On the other hand, it is another major step towards validating the direction that TGCC is headed in and will increase the attention on this space. 208.200.103.25
