BrooklynDave, I got the impression he was a visionary once he
moved on to TCI. I have been primarily a Microsoft investor but
got curious about AT&T after that deal. Microsoft was not able to
get the best deal in the set-top boxes from TCI (which gave some
of the biz to Sun Microsystems). This happened prior to the TCI
acquisition.
I have a feeling that Bill Gates (another visionary),
has been becoming friendly with Michael Armstrong. Why?
(We all probably heard the rumor about the MSN acquisition
possibility--either ISP or portal site). I don't know if those
talks were serious but the idea that talks did take place
indicated to me that Gates realizes the importance of cable.
I think Gates want more software business from AT&T--TCI and
would be willing to make deals on terms that are favorable
to TCI to get it.

BTW- I just hold PC related stocks but just thought AT&T was
a great opportunity because of its strategic moves. I don't
know if they will make their quarter but am willing to bet
that they will do great over longer period of time.
