Better than the indices.

I told myself that if I got to a certain dollar level I would spin off a third into other capable hands and I would build a relationship with a company that can provide cpmprehensive services across the entire financial spectrum. This is important for risk management, for stability, cash-flow and tax planning, and it provides succession and a comfort zone in case I drop dead.

Trading concentrated positions can be much more profitable compared to balanced portfolio management. I enjoy it, too. But I've been at my desk ten hours a day for the past six years, and I may want to get a life at some point.

Luckily, even after this, I'll still be playing with more than I started 1999 with!
