Jane, I believe that the Bible--both testaments-- is one book/story
not two religions. If one has a belief that is not true in ALL Biblical citations, then it is not the truth. Every word is truth and inspired.

The Jews are monotheists. The Torah speaks of one God. Often as discussed above the Christian translators have taken liberties which support their theology. A visit to a rabbi to discuss your question might prove interesting. The Hebrew understanding of unity and oneness meant in that reference does not infer two beings as when a man and woman marry they become "one". Hebrew is much richer than English.

"...besides me there is no God". Is. 44:6 "...before me there was no god formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the LORD (JEHOVAH); and besides me there is no savior". Is. 43:10-11 "Hear O Israel:The LORD (JEHOVAH) our God is one LORD (JEHOVAH)". Deut. 6:4

If the only God is Jehovah and Jesus (Yeshua)is God. Who is Jesus?
Right.

_________

The "failure" was in the garden as was God's plan for redemption.
See Genesis 3:15. Deliverance by the Messiah "the seed of the woman" was always part of God's plan. The Jews have always expected him and still do.

If you mean to imply that the Jews failed God. Look in the mirror.
So did we! All mankind needs the Messiah's sacrifice. That was always the plan from the original sin of Adam.

It is Christian arrogance that says: the Jews failed at trying to keep God's law so they were replaced by us. We can ignore God's law because we are saved by grace. That sounds like a cruelty joke!

Be careful what you say about God's chosen people. His second
coming is to save them in Jerusalem. The kingdom city (Rev. 21:1) will have gates for the 12 tribes of Israel and (Rev. 21:12) AND 12 foundations with the names of the apostles! (Rev. 21:14) We are parts of the same whole.
-------

I too am a Christian and I believe Christ was born of a virgin and
the Holy Spirt. Where we differ is our view of the Old Testament,
God's law and the Jews. I see the New Testament as a fulfillment
and an extention of the old. You have been taught that it replaces the Old Testament.

I hope this is helpful.
