Fortune also had a sidebar in a recent issue regarding BRK and S&P, saying that "all hell would break loose" if BRK were added to the S&P 500, due to the low percentage of BRK shares which are actually for sale. That article left the impression that there was no way that BRK would be added to the S&P 500, since they didn't do it following the General Re acquisition.

I would expect one helluva jump if that did happen, since the indexers would have no choice but to purchase BRK shares, whatever the price.
