Valuing a broker depends on what you're looking for. Dreyfus by far is the best option broker I have ever used. I have trade as large over one hundred contracts and they were done in a jiffy. I generally use limit order. But in the past I have used more market order and I was quite impressed with their execution. I have executed order two minutes before the bell and I had no problem.

As for stocks I have not heard any increase in margin requirement.
