First gold pour at Rawas project

Laverton Gold N.L. LAVShares issued 1039973831997-01-29 close $0.36Friday Jan 31 1997News ReleaseMr Barry Panos reports On January 25 1997 the first gold pour took place at Laverton Gold's Rawas project. This is the first gold pour during the commissioning phase of the operation. The first ore entered the plant on January 5 and within two hours the crusher and mill operated at their design capacity of 700,000 tpa. Subsequently, the whole plant has been operating at an availability of 95% which is excellent. Recoveries of gold are it the region of 94 to 96%. In the initial early days of the commissioning, in line with expectations, the grade has averaged 2 g/t Au but the recovery has been high. The head grade for February will increase after the depleted surface zone has been removed. The grade should rise to about 3.00 g/t Au equivalent by June. The results of a recent exploration hole (BT-880) in the planned Asmar open pit area indicate eight zones of economic mineralization which is worthy of note.

In addition, a trench T-993, 280m to the north of the present Buluh pit has been completed. This possibly represents a significant extension to the Buluh orebody. So far only this one trench has been completed. It is 155m long striking east-west. There are 11 intersections better than 1m at 1.00 g/t. More trenching is planned. The better intersections include:

1m at 7.41 g/t Au and 3 g/t Ag
3m at 2.86 g/t Au and 3 g/t Ag
3m at 1.84 g/t Au and 1 g/t Ag

1m at 22.80 g/t Au and 8 g/t Ag
4m at 1.99 g/t Au and 3 g/t Ag
