Did I say that? Everyone loses money at some point in their life but over TIME people make money unless they're idiots. It seems you don't understand the "time" concept ... If I buy XYZ at the IPO at $1 and hold it 10 years and it goes to $50 and you buy it at $50 and it declines to $30 it's a positive sum game ... a net of $29 in this simple case. Is the market higher or lower than it was 15 years ago? People have clearly made money. And if you're going to try to imply commissions adversely affect the outcome why not consider that dividends produce a positive effect.
