Downplaying self-diagnostics ...

I should probably explain what I meant by downplaying the self-diagnostics market. In Jack Kay's letter to the shareholder, he outlined Phoenix's strength in the BIOS market and their goal of generating business in 2 targeted growth areas. As previously mentioned, these targeted growth areas are information appliances and peripheral interconnects (USB). Since he didn't mention the self-diagnostics market as a targeted growth area, I thought that he was trying downplay this area. Compare that with SS who say in their annual report that they acquired a company in order to focus on the self-diagnostics market. In all Phoenix had about 5 or 6 paragraphs on their work in the self-diagnostics market compared to the several pages on the BIOS, information appliances and USB market. That's what I meant by downplaying.

I was wondering about the Compaq thing too. Phoenix ships the BIOS for one of their fastest growing lines, the Presario. Like you, I was hoping that Phoenix would soon take over all their lines. With Phoenix's many BIOS extension, how can an in-house BIOS department keep up? Maybe Phoenix should buyout their BIOS department and have Compaq become a partner too.
