The AMD K6-2 processor with 3DNow! technology has proven a stiff challenger to Intel's wares. Vendors including Compaq, Hewlett-Packard, and IBM have all adopted the K6-2 into their home PCs because, in many cases, it allows them to get a big megahertz number on the box for a low price. Compaq continues this trend by bringing the first 400-MHz K6-2-based PC to market, the Compaq Presario 5190 Internet PC.
