I was talking to an Exxon geophysicist on Friday night. He told me two interesting things:
1.) The head of his local office ( quite a large one ) told his employees that the Mobil deal might fall through.
2.) Exxon is increasing exploration by 30% this year while most, if not all, the other large companies are cutting back. So, instead of laying people off, they are giving the current employees more work. Also, they are taking advantage of low day rates for rigs etc.

It sounds like a good idea to me. What does everyone else think?
