Technology Stocks : FSII - The Worst is Over?

Even though the group has been on a tremendous run since 19 October
until Friday's close, most of the stocks in the group are still well
below their 1997 highs. The following table shows the comparison.
Keep in mind, this "cut" is not on a specific date in 1997 - it is a
comparison of each stocks highest closing price in 1997, irrespective
of the date on which it occurred.

Only one stock of the group, AMAT is above its 1997 closing high.
Two others, NVLS and TER are close, but the other 38 have much
further to go. Some of them at the bottom of the table have a long
way to go. In fact, 21 stocks have to double or better to reach
their 1997 highs. The group sum is down 43 percent compared to 1997
while the SOX-X is down only 3 percent.

One item of interest, the SOX-X closed at 416.79 last Wednesday, an
all-time high. The previous high was established on 8/20/97 at
403.64.
