Vargas, thanks for reinforcing the points I was trying to make. Particularly interesting was your description of insiders "...bidding up the price because they know something." Why would anyone who anticipates positive news want to "bid up" the stock? Would it not be in their interest to quietly accumulate at the lowest possible price in order to maximize their gains?

A frequent penny stock scenario is the inexplicable rise in price, with the idea that "someone must know something" being hyped on these discussion groups. Then there is some sort of vacuous "good news" press release and the price immediately falls on profit taking and the gullible investors scratch their heads in frustration, asking "Golly gee whiz, why does this thing always seem to go down on good news?"
