You are all looking at this from a singular point of view. The fact of the matter remains is that it is a positive sum game overall no matter how you look at it except for the one scenario, including commissions.
You are looking at it from the singular point of view and the concept therefore becomes superfluous. the statement "the market is a minus game" applies only to you assuming you lost money. If however, everyone in the world decides to sell their stock at exactly the same moment, and all of the indices stand at 0. I would agree that the market at some point on the way down is a minus game. This discussion really is moot.
