Wallstreetreporter, you bring up some issues worthy of serious thought. The only crack in your logic is that you are directly paid for your promotional services whereas, if we give your argument the benefit of the doubt, the others are paid only indirectly. While we can argue that perhaps reporters need to be scrutinized more closely, the fact that well-known journalists actually have been convicted of insider violations indicates that at least we know they are not immune to prosecution. I know, for example, when Time mentions a product from a company they own, they do indicate as such. Perhaps we need to demand more instances of that, or, if that doesn't work, laws mandating as such.
