PtoTA does sound promising. I would be running it on a 150MHz 604e based machine with lots of memory. I wouldn't consider running Hotline until os X comes out, because I run a mail server, and and other software on the mac too that I don't want interrupted.

I don't have a very capable graphics card in my mac. That should have have a big impact on the charting speed, right?

Regarding Dial Data, I had been having problems with the McClellan and TRIN data. I thought this was a Dial Data issue, but I wonder if it may have been a Hotline issue instead. Does anyone know?
