Friends of management, employees, venture capitalists and whoever else financed these companies before they became public.

Management would probably want to sell some of their own stock. They would be crazy not to. Although management would probably want to see the selling be done in an orderly fashion there is way to much easy money to be made by way too many people for the selling to be orderly. If you had put, let's say $150,000 in eBay a couple years ago and it was now worth $5 million to $15 million, wouldn't you cash in your chips? I certainly would, thank you very much.

That is why there are resale restrictions. But once there off, you do what you want with your stock.
