You missed the point. I am not at all suggesting that the scenario I suggested in fact was the case, I have no reason to think it was. But a reason for selling early is to avoid a situation where others would know that you had certain information which would preclude you from selling. For example if you knew or even suspected that a certain subject was to be discussed at a board meeting, you might want to sell before the board meeting since once the board meeting took place you would be precluded from taking any action until the public was informed.

Again, I am not suggesting that this is the case, just making a point that it is a possible reason why someone would take profits in December.
