John,

I'm really sorry. I've been away since Friday at a Board meeting and just got plugged in a few minutes ago. I've had to wade through 24 postings of Darkgreen's from # 7372 through # 7448 and I'm exhausted and I forgot your speculation. It's not your fault, though; it's mine.

Saw the Barron's article yesterday and had a bit of a chance to check it out. Other than the obvious question of the author's viewpoint, his laziness and his dated material (I think Motorols has already closed down their li-poly plant and sold it off several months ago - and June 1998 financials with their annotations???) - and I'd agree with lws's comments stated earlier - I was surprised to see that it consumed all of 8 - yes, 8 - postings on the ULBI thread over at Yahoo and 10x that many here (and I suspect, a similar amount over on the Yahoo VLNC thread). Seems to me that it pretty painted all 3 U.S. companies with the same brush. So why does Valence get all the extra attention? Perhaps a less-than-objective viewpoint.

FWIW: I really do think that LD was interviewed for this article last fall, before the initial Arcotronics line had been delivered. So I do expect that we will see a contract pretty soon, ie, before Mr. "add"s date of 4/15/99. And I surely think that there will be industry production, and Motorola usage, in volume well before the end of 1999, much less 2000 or 2002.

But I'll say once again, if an investord needs confirmation of a contract, hang loose and avoid the stock. As for me, I expect to add to my position on any kind of a real shakeout.
