NEC in talks to obtain funds from Intel--paper
TOKYO, Jan 25 (Reuters) - NEC Corp is seeking possible financial alliances with Intel Corp (Nasdaq:INTC - news) and several other major U.S. personal computer makers, a Japanese newspaper reported on Monday.

No immediate comment from NEC was available.

The Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun said NEC was in negotiations with the U.S. companies on either a direct investment in the company's manufacturing facilities or capital participation in NEC.

The U.S. PC makers were seeking a stable supply of dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) chips and NEC needs funds to build new production lines, it said.
