I have had Sprint as my PCS provider for five months after having problems with Pacific Bell PCS. I am a retired Pacific Bell employee and have no ax to grind. Their service was overpriced and at the time I cancelled, you could not retrieve your voice mail if you were using the handset with another carrier that had reciprocity agreements with Pac Bell. I was in South Carolina and a the handset indicated I had new voice mail, when I tried to call voice mail from the handset all I got was a recording. I called tech support who basically said tough, you will have to return to a PB service area to get it. Since then they have implemented remote retrieval from land line phones for an extra $4.95 per month. Everyone has horror stories and hidden agendas to air relating to just about every company on the stock exchange. All I can say is my experience with Sprint is exponentially better than other carriers I have had (Airtouch, Bell South, Bell Atlantic and L.A. Cellular) and much less expensive with absolutely no contract required.
