I find this issue of transmitting a serial number very disturbing. I would buy another processor if they had nearly equal features for this factor.

I'm also a realist though. I think they must be developing big files on us already. I'm sure Msft has looked into our computers and see what's naughty and nice. Question is what can they do about it once they've looked?

Now Intel says they are doing it to prevent the multiple use of a single piece of software? Why should Intel care? Why should Intel build anything into their products that doesn't make them better? Is there something here that I don't see?

They are also building RSA encryption into the new Pentium. I wonder if they can do that and then sell these abroad? Isn't there still a rule about exporting sensitive software?
