the new chip contains a unique serial ID and a random number generator Paul, this ser no thing is way overblown. I know that mainframes have had SN features forever. Do the Unix vendors (SUN, HWP, etc.) have SNs available to software? If INTC wants to grow into the large scale server arena, SNs seem essential, IMO. I see the SN as a way to break through some serious security and privacy issues that will be good for the industry and good for the user. FWIW
