Pat, if it is in Atlanta then I think you are indeed referring to Mindspring which is based there. I happened to call their Tech Support after USR mentioned them switching from Ascend equipment to Total Control Hubs in their conference call. The tech support guy said that their entire network of POP's on the east coast was replaced so as to bring X2 online which they felt was easier to upgrade now and in the future. Unfortunately they could not do that on the West coast because they do not have a network setup there and they rely on PSInet which as you know is heavily invested in Ascend equipment. Ascend and Cascade mentioned in their conference calls that they dont think that 56k capability is very crucial in their RA Servers because they (and their ISP friends) feel that there will not be much demand for it. They are absolutely correct. There is not and will not be much demand for their servers to connect at 56k because there is no frigging client modem to do that yet !! Fabled sour grapes at their very best. -hitesh
