HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 25, 1999--Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE:CPQ), a leading workstation vendor, today announced the availability of the new Intel Pentium II Xeon 450 MHz processors with 1 MB of Level 2 (L2) cache for the Professional Workstation SP700. The added cache offers workstation customers significantly improved performance over current processor options, which provide 512 KB of L2 cache. This performance gain is most recognized by compute-intensive applications, such as computer-aided engineering, electronic design simulation and 3D graphics rendering software. The new processor is available immediately.
