Just received this...

Intel's new Pentium III processor does not have encryption code built into it. Instead, Intel will implement processor serial numbers in its microprocessors beginning with the new Pentium III processor later this quarter. We believe this feature, when combined with security software (RSA's or others), will improve the security of the platform and improve the use of electronic commerce over the Internet in the future.

Intel works with almost all the others in the industry. For example, we have announced agreements on security issues with IBM.
