Why should they be so hungry for a victory?; (Republican's)

First of all, you must separate from my responses the Republicans and the Radicals. It is the Radicals (chrisian coalition + disgruntled segregationists + other right wing cults) that are running the Ken Starr investigation and impeachment matter. The Republicans are a political party larger than the Radicals, but whose grassroots efforts have been captured by the Radicals.

There was a genuine shift in American politics away from the legacy of Roosevelt's New Deal. Pat Robertson jumped in front of the parade and eventually came to believe he was leading it. As he turned the corner toward a more Radical agenda the parade just kept marching past him down the center of the political spectrum. Robertson, and others who felt themselves influential (R.Limbaugh, Falwell, David Duke, etc.) think the American people are stupid, that they are falling for Clinton's speeches and looks, and that if they knock him off the stupid parade will get behind them again.
TP (IMHO)
