Richard Karpel, Please explain how your conclusions are derived from the information currently available.

What we know:
1. WIND press release estimates Q earnings between $0.27-0.30 &
year-over-year revenue growth between 39-41%
2. First Call analyst consensus Q4 earnings estimate of $0.29
3. Lehman analyst Michael Stanek, who on Friday said in a Dow Jones
article that he had been misinterpreted. "Wind is a company that
has beat its number for 20 quarters and my feeling after talking
with the company is that they will meet estimates this time,
rather than beat them, but they will certainly not miss the
number. Stanek is confident Wind River will meet First Call
Corp.'s analysts' earning forecast of 29 cents a share in the
fiscal fourth quarter, ending January. But he added that he made a
"slight readjustment" in his fiscal year 2000 estimate, revising
it to between $1.10 and $$1.15 a share from $1.19."

As for your comments on back-end loaded sales, please see my previous
post on this subject.

I feel that you should soften your opinion of Allen Benn. I found the quality of his posts to be among the best available on the Silicon Investor website. His insight into the microprocessor industry greatly enhanced my understanding of Wind River's business model and the growth potential of commercial RTOS in the embedded systems space. To my recollection, Allen explained in a distant post (perhaps Peter Church knows the post #) that WIND's method of reporting quarterly earnings was designed to further the company's longer term goals by avoiding "hockey stick" earnings. He shared his opinion freely. You paid him nothing. There was no expressed guarantee. So lighten up.

That said, I venture a guess that you based your investment decision upon the opinion of others instead of doing your own due diligence. A huge mistake! For all we know, Allen Benn is some guy sitting around the house in a smelly warm-up suit. (Just kidding Allen)
