I really don't see how Genuine Music's method would be useful to Lucent. Watermark makes it impossible for anyone to copy music, whereas Genuine only marks the file to show its origin. Granted, this is great for MP3. It should make and organized attempt at piracy quite difficult. People would know that they are buying bootleg and the vender would face jail time. I'm not sure it will keep individuals from making copies and distributing them to friends. We know that every video tape carries an FBI warning and that duplication is a federal offence.

Lucent has many years of R&D behind Watermark. Nobody can make copies from a Watermark encrypted source. I'd be very surprised to see Lucent on that list. Why would they support someone else's technology?
