Mohan, one of the major mis-perceptions on this board is that a Manu customer can buy from i2. This is not the case. The Manu customer base and product-line is heavily focused on CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods - e.g. things in your average grocery store or drug store), and process manufacturing. The i2 product line has been focused on complex manufacturing (e.g. computers, telephone switches) and heavy industrials (e.g. metals, and automotive).

i2 has been trying to penetrate the CPG market for a while and no doubt with their strength they will eventually succeed. However, they aren't there today.

This is all the more reason that i2 should buy Manu. Their customer bases have very little overlap. I couldn't figure why this hasn't happened. The only thing that I can imagine is that the Manu executive team is unrealistic in the valuation and/or i2 is trying to low-ball them. With the Manu customer-base and product-line, i2 would be formidable.

my $.02

I believe i2 has taken center stage in SCM/eBPO segment.
