Tom, most analysts who cover shoes seem to rate the industry as a whole, rather than studying individual companies. Either that, or they think Nike is the entire shoe industry.

Thus, when WWW's brown shoe business takes athletic shoe business from Nike, WWW gets downgraded because Nike is doing poorly. When the NBA has a lockout, hurting Nike, WWW gets downgraded, even though WWW sells no basketball shoes. When a women's shoe company is accused of price-fixing, WWW gets downgraded, even though WWW sells nothing with spiked heels.

It's obviously going to take a while before sanity sets in. Unfortunately, investors are going to have to find WWW on their own.
