You really don't understand how Americans think. They will simple avoid programs that require the ID. Those programs without it will gain market share. If Microsoft tries it, they will simply get sued for monopolistic practices. Americans (at least the last bunch of them that don't enjoy being controlled by Clinton and the press), value their freedom.
